Intel Inside For New Sony PS4? Insiders Say Yes

Sony is working on a brand new PS4 that could incorporate new Intel processors, says a source. The device, which will be cheaper to manufacture than current model PS3s, will also get new Intel graphic processors (GPU) and Gigabit wireless technology if it goes ahead.

Currently Sony uses the Cell processor manufactured by Toshiba.

A Sony source said that Intel technology was being used in development models; however, no final decision has been made because of concerns over heating and the potential of the processors crashing when used in a gaming environment.

Yamaha Releases Full HD Receivers

Yamaha Music Australia has debuted the RXV3800Bi and RXV1800B, two new AV Receivers that claims to deliver full HD audio and video with the latest in HDMI technology (version 1.3a).

The RXV3800Bi and RXV1800B ensure full HD signals are delivered to reproduce the audio and visual experience created by the producer. The new HDMI version 1.3a offers support for Deep Colour providing 30 and 36-bit colour depths, allowing the rendering of billions of colours for greater picture accuracy. Both receivers support 24Hz refresh rate, the native refresh rate for film sources such as Blu-Ray and also supports higher refresh rates on 100Hz/120Hz, making this receiver ready for the next generation of LCD and plasma display panels.

New Bowers & Wilkins High End Speakers

When it comes to high-end speakers Bowers & Wilkins, the maker of the highly popular Zeppelin iPod dock, is among the best. Last week the company launched a new 800 Series Diamond loudspeaker, the first new update of the 800 series in six years.

The product for the first time includes a diamond dome tweeter. The new series, the company said, boasts "vastly improve performance across the board and for the first time the inclusion of a diamond dome tweeter in every speaker in the seven-model range."

New advances, in addition to the diamond dome tweeter, include a new surround material, improved bass performance, and new oxygen-free-copper speaker terminals and links.

The Diamond series will be available in February in seven versions, ranging from the HTM4 Diamond (US$2,500 per pair) to the 800 Diamond (US$24,000 per pair.)

New B&W Soundbar Hits Oz

Bowers & Wilkins has launched its Panorama soundbar in Australia. Showcased in CES in January, it is available now for $2999.

The company says that the Panorama can be placed on its own feet or attached to the wall using the supplied bracket. It is designed to partner flatscreen televisions from 37-inches upwards.

Using a combination of multiple drive units and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), the Panorama claims to ‘provide users with an immersive surround performance from a single speaker.'
